Will Clarke’s Barber Shop U.S. Tour makes it’s San Francisco stop at VERSO for a Friday night to remember!
Friday, October 21st, 10pm
Will Clarke first blew up on the scene in early 2014 when his Big Booty EP was released on Worthy’s Anabatic label, later picking up support from Jamie Jones and MK during the festival season that year. All of the hype Will received surrounding this release won the attention of Dirtybird Head Honcho Claude VonStroke who then welcomed Will into the Dirtybird family and saw him become one of the label’s most regularly released artists with 7 tracks in 2015.
These included The Boogie Woogie EP, Badness (Dirtybird 10 Years compilation), his collab with Genghis Klan entitled Jackintosh, 808 Frenzy and his most recent Turn It Up EP. These releases received regular support from Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Danny Howard, Monki amongst others at BBC Radio 1, Radio 1xtra and Rinse FM. Will had a string of remixes including Azari & III’s classic Reckless (With Your Love) which came out on Tiga’s Turbo Recordings and later rereleased on Virgin EMI (UK). To add to this, Jamie Jones requested his remixing skills for Hot Natured’s Off World Lover single which came out on on Jamie’s new label Emerald City. Then came Will’s debut release on Defected, Spandex ft Rhea.
With all of this under his belt, last year Will embarked on a Dirtybird tour of Australia and The Americas and finally to finish off 2015, he headed back to the US for several dates on the Get Real tour alongside Claude VonStroke and Green Velvet. These dates alone saw Will appear at festivals such as Pete Tong’s stage atWonderland, The Dirtybird Campout, Something Wicked Festival, HARD Day Of The Dead and SnowGlobe. He is currently at the beginning of his first Dirtybird tour of 2016, 25 dates across North America on the ‘Will & Bill’s Excellent Adventure’ tour with Billy Kenny including The Holy Ship and CRSSD Festival in San Diego. Coming up after this tour, Will is heading Down Under in May for his third Australian tour as well as a string of dates in Asia and the Americas later in the year.
Like many artists Will Clarke’s sonic palette comes his experiences and influences from home and afar. The roots of his sound stem from both his home town of Bristol, and his seasonal home in Ibiza, which have forged Will’s style; a style that fuses the best of Bristol’s bass elements with the upfront house music sensibilities of the white isle.
Talking of his approach to productions Will says “I make music for clubbers, not DJs. I sample a lot of old school rave tracks from the 90s, with 21st Century production techniques.” Then add those little influences from Bristol and Ibiza and you will understand why Will’s music holds such a broad appeal and is often supported by the cream of the crop in the industry.
Sage Armstrong began making waves in the house music scene with his debut Dirtybird release, ‘What’s Yo Tempetcha?’. Grown in the south, he has been influenced by a multitude of different genres that continue to inspire his creative flow in the studio and on stage. He has created his own style by adding unique elements that give off a vibe of bouncy underground beats with original vocals.
Sage continues making music with no creative boundaries after receiving support from some of his favorite Dirtybird artists like Justin Martin and the boss man himself, Claude VonStroke.
With an exciting release schedule and show dates piling up, the future is looking bright for this rising star.
