► TEEBS - Born in New York to Malawi and Barbados origins, Mtendere (pronounced “ten-de-ra”) (Chichewa for “Peace”) Mandowa, is an electronic musician and painter who bounced around the East Coast before finally planting his feet in the Southern California suburb of Chino Hills. Already successful in music with Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder and ‘My Hollow Drum’ Collectives, Teebs’ painting is similar to his music production; collaging and illustrating images to create meditative and minimalist soundscapes on canvas.
In 2013, Sons of the Morning, his collaborative project with Prefuse 73, released the debut EP, Speak Soon Volume One, on Yellow Year Records. In 2014, Teebs released his second studio album, Estara, on Brainfeeder.
Teebs' style has been referred to as "beat music", a style which involves recording, layering, altering and organizing several sounds including harps, shakers, drum taps and even tape peeling.
► MONO/POLY - In defying the laws of tradition, Los Angeles based music producer Mono/Poly (born Charles Dickerson) has managed to outstrip the logics of multi-genre producing. Known for his distinct madness of face melting bass, paired with his dreamy astral soundscapes of glitch-based hip-hop, Mono/Poly has proved himself to be a natural phenomenon.
His debut album, The George Machine (EP) was released in the fall of 2009 on Faces Records, which was followed by his first full-length solo album Paramatma (Tasteful Licks) in the spring of 2010. In 2011, Mono/Poly released Manifestations, making a strong debut on the Brainfeeder label, and it continues its heavy rotation being played by the likes of Radiohead, Erykah Badu and Jay Scarlett at BBC Radio’s 1XTRA.
Mono/Poly appears on releases from Warp records and Planet Mu, featured alongside fellow artists Flying Lotus, Thundercat, Daedelus, and Nosaj Thing. His gravitational attraction to revolutionary sounds has gained vast recognition among listeners and artists as one of the hottest up-and-coming producers in the world.
2015 has been off to a strong start with a featured track on the new Grand Theft Auto 5, the release of Ne-Yo's 'Religious', and 'Skip Skip' by Tha Dogg Pound & Snoop Dogg. Currently, Mono/Poly is working on his latest album that is to be released sometime this year. He continues to perform his live sets across the globe having covered places such as Greece, Switzerland, France and Lithuania, in addition to his touring in the US.
►Amp Live has most recently teamed up with the talented saxophonist Dom of Big Gigantic to bring you the massive single "Brass Knuckles." The collaborators uniquely create a new sound, trap meets jazz, by combining melodic pads, twisted sax solos, and floating them over huge big room bass drops. While also being one half of pioneering hip hop duo Zion I(formerly), Amp Live demonstrates his ability as an innovator, experimenter, and trendsetter that have garnered him solo recognition, bringing together the EDM and hip hop worlds with a technical and classical sensibility. As the first single from his upcoming concept album Headphone Concerto dropping in 2014, it will be a busy year for Amp on the Live side as well as he continues to tour prolifically while pushing the boundaries of sonic bliss.
Amp Live is the latest up and coming beat maker hailing from California, one of hip hop’s most thriving centers. Amp’s building a rep as one of cali’s most talented and diverse producer/djs. After his dreamy soulful beats for Zion I, he has been able to produce for major and independent artist such as Akon(Warner), Flipsyde(Interscope Records), Nicole Schercenger of the Pussy Cat Dolls(Interscope), the album "Moneys My Motiviation" for bay area hyphy artist Kafani(Koch), the remix for "Place for My Head" by Linkin Park on the platinum selling Reanmation Album, the soul smash single of 2003-2004 titled "Closer" by the r&b artist Goapele(Sony Records), and a gritty, rough track for LA phenomenon Mystic on the debut hit album Cuts for Luck Scars for Freedom (Goodvibe/Interscope) called “Girlfriend Sistagirl”. Most importantly Amplive's most recent success has been his critcally acclaimed "Rainydayz Remixes" album for the rock group Radiohead's In Rainbows LP. Always experimenting, Amp Live has done breaks, house, 2 step, dance, electro, mashups, and drum ‘n bass, including a remix for Philly MC Bahamadia on “Pep Talk”, the hip hop group Zion I, a electro music LP Electrowonderland Vol 1 (2006), and a new Electrowonderland Vol.2.
In the past years, Amp Live has notably been a part of the video game industry, having his production being one of the main features for the Sony Traxxpad and also a basketball player character in the NBA 2K6-2K7 video game. Finally, Amp’s beats have been featured on a number of movies and tv shows, which include "So You Think You Can Dance", "Dirt" by Courtney Cox, "Friday Night Lights", "Honey", "Big Fat Liar","Leperchaun 4", "Americas Top Model" by Tyra Banks, ESPN Sports center, and the "Jamie Kennedy Show”.
► SMOKESTACKS - is the sonic equivalent of the harder edge of romance. Over the last several years TF Marz (Marley Schwartz) and ShowMe (Henry Krant) have been defining their own brand of bass music, incorporating elements of hip hop, R&B, Neo-Soul, and future bass. Playing on the dichotomy of Sensual Rough, Smokestacks’ music spans the breadth of modern romance track to track and within each song. Their sultry verses evoke feelings of longing, loneliness and placidity which quickly turn to driving atmospheric hooks and heavy trap drops inspiring elation, hope and serenity.
The Los Angeles duo premiered their debut track “Misuse” in March via Play it Louder. A collaboration with LA artist Cosmic Quest and featuring vocalist Virginia Palms, the track has received over 110K plays on SoundCloud to date. With a wealth of new material for 2016, including an EP with Virginia Palms scheduled for a fall release and their festival debut at Lightning In A Bottle this past May, along with a string of sets at Burning Man, Smokestacks are prepared to make waves.
