Now for some updates for the upcoming Sunday!

Marin County is changing and there are new regulations we must abide by to keep our day together intact.

1. Costs:
Costs to produce this event have gone up but we are committed to keeping this a non-profit event. All fees go to the County of Marin or to paying for the many infrastructure items needed.

2. Over-Flow Parking:
There is no longer an over-flow parking lot available. Once the main lot is full no more cars will be allowed to enter and we will accept drop-offs only. Also, there is no parking allowed along the road and your car will be towed by CHP if you do so. In the past, we only had to use the over-flow parking lot a few times and that was only if you came later in the day.

3. Carpooling:
We urge you to COME EARLY & CARPOOL!
Carpool to share the gate fee. Carpool to save gas. Carpool 'cause it's fun! Once the main Stafford Lake parking lot is full we cannot park any more vehicles. Drivers and Riders, set up Carpools here:

3. Vehicle Fees:
Cars & Trucks - Due to this change we have modified the fee structure to encourage carpooling and reduce vehicle traffic in order to fit as many people as possible in the park. All cars and trucks will now be $25 per vehicle. We are pre-selling a limited amount of parking passes to guarantee entry until 5pm here:

Vans & Busses - To help with rental fees, all vans and busses with 9 or more seat-belted passengers will be free to enter the park. However, you must register your vehicle here:

4. Parking Lot Status:
We will be updating the current status of the parking lot capacity at the top of this event page on the event day. Please check it before you head out to the Lake. It's very possible we may not fill the lot all day but If it show’s more then 90% full before you leave your origination then we recommend arranging a drop-off or you could be turned away.

5. Be Patient and Kind:
Respect your fellow Sunseter… We will be doing our best getting everyone into the park efficiently.

**-Smoke in the designated smoking section **
**-No underage drinking **
**-Keep lit BBQ's off grass**

Parking/Donation/Gate Fee:
Due to the large attendance over the last few years and the need for infrastructure to maintain this safely, the County of Marin has required us to put many systems in place (ie. more bathrooms, parking staff, security, highway patrol, EMTs, zero waste teams, etc.) or they will cancel any future SUNSET events. A small donation on top of the already established park entrance fee that exist at all times is required upon entry. Vehicles must park in Stafford Lake or as directed, NO vehicles will be allowed to park on the side of the road which will be closely monitored by CHP.

Zero Waste:
We are making great efforts to reduce waste going to the landfill at our events. Marin has a goal to be zero waste by 2025. Let's help them out! Please use the compost and recycling bins in the park. Please refrain from using any disposable plastic items in your picnic.

We have worked very hard to preserve the culture of this event.
Please designate a SOBER driver. DO NOT DRINK & DRIVE!

How did we get here...
On March 20th, 1994 The first Sunset party happened in celebration of the Spring Equinox in Berkeley Marina, California. Overlooking the Golden Gate and the San Francisco skyline we danced into the evening. It's this transformative time when the sun sets and we move from light to dark that has fueled 2 decades of friends and family coming together to bring close to the weekend and positivity to the week ahead. Drawing from the the spirit of sound system culture from Jamaica and UK, Sunset has produced over 150 free outdoor dance parties from the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. Whether it be a renegade beach party or a permitted event in the park the communal vibe has remained unchanged.
