Ahoy ye swashbucklers, scallywags, and strumpets (*Airhorn x4*)
Last year's boat party went off swimmingly (Pun #1) so Bounce House and Make It Funky are back with another Fantastic Voyage for that ass.
You know that scene at the end of the last Pirates of the Caribbean where the two ships are being sucked into the apocalyptic maelstrom while locked in mortal combat (Pun #2, I see you Johnny Cage) and the evil dude with the octopus face is saying all that crazy shit? . . . Yeah, this will be nothing like that.
Think more along the lines of booze cruise / love boat / sail away home / the end of Free Willy / submarine breaching through the arctic circle after a wild adventure / Moby Dick / and other nautical boat references. We're talking a slow and steady groove machine easing you under the golden gate bridge at sunset while the wind blows through your hair and you daintily sip your 11th cocktail of the afternoon, or is it evening now? (*cue 6 second portion of Diana Ross - Make Your Move*)
Make it easy on yourself: get tickets early and, as always, come with a good attitude and be respectful of the captain and crew of the vessel (the literal Captain, not the variety of imposters that will claim the title). And in all seriousness, mind your step and stay safe - while it's all friendly and a good bit of music, we're afloat on a geometrically designed piece of metal on a giant body of water.
Oh - bring your AquaSocks cause it's gonna get wet (Puns #3, #4, and #5).
This year we depart on the beautiful, San Francisco Spirit at 4pm SHARP. Please arrive at 3 PM at Pier 3 to check in! We'll be cruising around the SF Bay taking in some beautiful sights, grooving to some funky beats, ending our journey with a sunset.
More logistical details to come!
Los Angeles based Michael Sandler’s accomplishments span across a variety of genres and pseudonyms. As SAAND, his melancholic audio tales are no doubt intended to motivate a floor over the course of an evening. The sulky textures that flow through SAAND’s palette add depth while simultaneously controlling the intensity of the music. SAAND consistently demonstrates control over the pace of his music and this skill will allow any melancholic shade of house music to flourish with enthusiasm. SAAND’s ability has amassed a punchy resume of performances that cover some lustrous festivals including Lightning in a Bottle, Woogie Weekend, and Mexico’s BPM among others. His releases are found riddled across affluent labels that are also pushing the envelope in their own way. Favorites including Dilate, Motek, Union Jack, and Sol Selectas can all be found highlighting SAAND’s work. In addition to having some of the world's biggest DJ's play and feature his music, SAAND has worked with cutting edge artists such as Till Von Sein, Tigerskin, Dance Spirit, Powel, Balcazar & Sordo, HearthuG, Jonny Cruz, Andre Salmon, David Scuba, Raw District, Namito, Kosmas, Derek Marin, Ashley Wild, and Clayton Steele just to name a few. Named Beatport's 'Breakthrough Artist of 2015' SAAND is ready to express himself further through his music.
Outside of SAAND’s musical prowess, his contribution to the southern California based music publication Music is 4 Lovers shouldn’t be short changed. As the Director and Senior Editor, Michael regularly exhibits years of music knowledge to the outlet which has helped advance its reach far beyond its California walls. Music Is 4 Lovers has distinguished itself as a prominent independent music publication and Michael’s influence is clear. Frankly, this is a great example of what makes an artist and a taste maker.
